“Krua Lhongkhao Restaurant” is a Michelin-recommended restaurant located in Chiang Mai. It is a small eatery that serves traditional northern Thai cuisine, and many of the dishes are unique and new to me. The restaurant is situated beside a beautiful rice field that provides a soothing and peaceful ambiance. We stumbled upon this restaurant through a local friend’s recommendation, and it didn’t disappoint us. We ordered ten dishes and a dessert among the six of us, as we wanted to try everything on the menu since we had come all the way.

The drinks arrived first, and they were beautifully decorated, which amazed me. The restaurant appeared simple, but the food was beyond delicious and aesthetically pleasing. Many local vegetables that are native to the north were used in several dishes, enhancing their authenticity. Visiting this restaurant broadened my horizons about northern Thai food, and I was thrilled to try the various dishes. Before coming here, I thought I had tasted many northern Thai dishes, but I realized that I had only experienced a few. These are the ten dishes that we ordered.

One of my favorite dishes is Grilled Crab with Egg. It is made by mixing rice paddy crab fat and chicken egg with salt, stuffing the mixture back into the crab shells, and grilling them until fully cooked.

Chiang Da flowers are stuffed with a savory filling, deep-fried until crispy and served with a sweet and salty dipping sauce, reminiscent of stuffed zucchini flowers.

Chiang Da vegetable stir-fried with egg is a well-balanced dish. Although the vegetable can be bitter, the seasoning hides the bitterness.

Overall, we loved the food and would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. The prices are very cheap, and it is worth every penny.
